The question over traffic barriers in Hastings-Sunrise is becoming a community conversation - about who's driving the changes and who's forced to live with them. We've lent our voice to the debate... and hope you will join us.
Recently, the Jas Johal Show examined the rise of traffic calming measures in Hastings-Sunrise. On the podcast Whose Neighbourhood Is It? the erection of concrete barriers and full-closure methods was examined - and our own Tom Siracusa provided insight into the negative impacts these so-called solutions have caused. Listen as he details the experiences shared by so many in East Vancouver and calls for change.
Will you heed that call?
Traffic calming is meant to provide safe streets and convenient turns. Instead it has left our neighbourhood vulnerable to dangerous vehicle surges and complicated rerouting, forcing us to navigate a maze of inconveniences. The barriers must be removed - and we must be allowed to live in our community, not just exist in it.
It's time to restore the streets.
