The numbers are moving — and so is the conversation.
As of today the Remove the Barriers petition (which serves as a way for the East Vancouver community to voice its dissatisfaction of recent traffic calming measures) now stands at 2,633 verified signatures - with 232 residents signing the past week alone. The page is garnering attention both within our neighborhood and the media, with CityNews, CBC News, and the Jas Johal Show all exploring the growing frustration with concrete barricades.
Those numbers are part of a broader discussion about traffic barriers and the negative impact they bring to East Vancouver. Residents have raised concerns about emergency access, vehicle congestion, and accessibility - and those concerns are (finally) being taken seriously. With each signature comes a greater chance of reaching the city's transportation policymakers and convincing them to remove the barricades.
2,633 signatures is progress; 232 new signatures in a week is momentum; and every conversation helps our community reclaim the streets.
The movement is growing — and East Vancouver is paying attention. Join us today and lend your signature.
